THE BARREL HEADLONG INTO THE NIGHT EP is my second collaboration with producer and multi-instrumentalist Josiah J. Manning. This is an uptempo 5-track acoustic EP, recorded, mixed and mastered at the ultra-relaxing Momentum Studios, Plymouth, UK.

Moving on from the bare-acoustic-bones feel of my first release, this record adds numerous extra musical elements that all help contribute to a fuller, richer, more exciting sound. However, this is still a raw-edged, all-acoustic affair, and the whole EP was still recorded using live takes of the guitar and vocal parts in order to capture the maximum possible energy for each song. But now you'll hear the likes of mandolin, piano and percussion elements rounding out the sound too.

'Barrel Headlong into the Night' is a song that evolved out of something else and has taken me 5 years to properly nail down. Likewise, 'Far Away, Blissed Out & Free' is a song that I've been playing in one form or another for the last 10 years, and finally feel I got right on this EP. In the other extreme, 'Every Night, Saturn's Rings' was written three days prior to the first recording session, and 'What You Got Going On, Lewis?' had only been a feature of my live set for about 3 months before I decided to record it. Finally, 'When the Blue Man Met the Headshrinker' grew out experiments during my live gigs, and developed over the course of about 6 months before making it onto this EP.

All these songs are regular additions to my live shows.
